I surf about 3 times a week and in the past I've defended Great Whites based on the fact that they are an animal that we need to preserve especially if they are already endangered.
But it's becoming apparent that there may be more GW's out there than we think. I mean I can handle a death once a year and the odd lost limb here and there but 5 fatalities in 10 months means that WA has got a problem.
If they could provide evidence that the GW numbers are increasing then I say cull some of them. The hard part is to prove that the numbers are increasing and this is where the greenies will make life difficult.
It's not just me who feels this way either. I'm fairly in touch with the general surfing community and I can tell you that there's been a swift and noticeable change in the the way surfers feel about sharks since these most recent attacks. It even surprised me.
And don't get my wrong, I don't like the idea of a GW cull, but I guess I just don't like the idea of young people getting ripped in half even moreso. Can you imagine the impact these constant fatalities are having on their comunities?
