Hotstocks, our car industry is a rip off at all levels. 1) The foreign owned Australian Manufacturers make expensive sub standard vehicles. They harvest government handouts. 2) Consumers are coerced by tariffs to buy local made rubbish that they otherwise wouldn't chose. 3)Federal tax on cars is huge. 4)State Government stamp duty is huge.
5) The dealer rort is huge. Ever seen a poor franchise owner? Parts in Australia are about 3x the cost you can buy them online.
All up cars and parts are about 2.5 - 3x the cost in the US.
