    Not so crackpot.

And another more recent BTA patent (in 2012)?

COMPOUND FOR THE TREATMENT OF ENTEROVIRUSES

From wiki: Enteroviruses affect millions of people worldwide each year, and are often found in the respiratory secretions (e.g., saliva, sputum, or nasal mucus) and stool of an infected person...Infection can result in a wide variety of symptoms ranging from mild respiratory illness (common cold), hand, foot and mouth disease, acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, severe neonatal sepsis-like disease, and acute flaccid paralysis.

    ---------------

Unless one is a medico/scientist, a bit more research is required, but it does sound like Biota are backing up their existing HRV and RSV patents with more specific applications for either existing or variants of existing BTA compounds.

We don't hear about all these BTA patent applications, but this is one area where there is no dispute (and probably the reason why many of us here are hanging onto our shares) - their science is second to none, so we know that eventually, there will be a bonanza!
