It can only be a few more sleeps now and the tourists should be back from their lovely jaunt to Egypt with jolly tales and glowing with enthusiasm for the yellow pallet (of which you get about 20 pallets of bananas per 40 foot hi cube container using European shipping pallet dimensions). This would require a pallet able to manage at least 980kg and in wood this would be around 20kg for the European foot print. On a dry weight basis a yellow pallet will need at least 23kg of banana fibre at 7% moisture assuming that kilo for kilo the yellow pallet performs the same as it's wood counter part. So, about 446 bone dry kilos of banana fibre will be needed to make 20 pallets. This equates to 4,460 wet kilo's of banana stems (about 180 banana stems to make 20 pallets) which have to be fiberised and then dried, glued and converted into a pallet. And this is going to be cheaper than wood. You're having a lend!!!!
