Yes, I'm with you Kenneth. In addition to your Manila - Sydney comparison, provincial cities in the Philippines living costs are about 1/2 to 2/3 of Manila prices. We got a large prime block north of Bacolod in a well-outfitted (pools. clubhouse, tennis courts, parks, etc).... and secure gated community full of Americans, British, Germans, Australians, and wealthy Filipinos. Cost about 1/10th of what I'd pay down here. Few cons on life there...medical care, while cheap...isn't near Australian standard.....electricity and water is less reliable....and it's way too much fun there. Any one living here on a pension and a life sentence to struggle street - really needs to look at other options.
