IMO its exactly that memory of the nickel plays that have exploded in the past that is driving this.

Poseiden (not the current listed one, but a previous incarnatio), went from a few cents to $280 back in the 70´s (for those too young - google Poseiden bubble).

More recently, Jubilee went from pennies to dollars in a very short space of time on a new nickel discovery in an area where no economic nickel had been found previously.

One must also remember that Jubilee hit nickel during a time when nickel was a fraction of the price it is today and well before the current boom (more like a long depression in the mining sector). That didn´t stop the share price from rising through the stratosphere.

Falcon Minerals also zoomed to well over a dollar on a virgin nickel discovery several years ago also (well before the current boom also).

If there is one commodity that sends investors crazy in WA, it is nickel. Or to be more precise "nickel sulphides". A good sulphide deposit after all is one of the harder discoveries to make these days and it is still the king of nickel, given all the associated problems with laterites. Call it the Poseiden effect.
