I read that jantimote already decided that neodimium is going to be replaced by regular iron induction motors in electric cars. That's very far from reality. Even though induction motors are used by Tesla, they have many disadvantages relative to permanent magnet brushless motors which are used by all the other car manufacturers. Induction motors are very hard to control, they are less efficient and do not have enough torque at low speeds. High torque is especially needed in cars at low speeds when the car is required to climb steep climbs or to accelerate from static position.

In addition, Neodimium is used in all the small motors that move the windows, chairs, roofs and wipers in the car not to mention the loudspeakers etc. This sums up to a lot of hardware.
