I have found over the years that often the rumour is put around for a takeover for another stock in the same sector as "the real takeover target" - sure, sometimes the rumour is true but i reckon 40 to 50% of the time, it is another similar stock in the sector that goes!!
I have been racking my brains thinking of another stock that may be in the crosshairs - cooper and dls possible; sxy maybe, but not as far as advanced in many ways; other cooper players way behind in terms of proving reserves and their size too small except santos!
maybe away from the cooper you have bru! Unless you go offshore then that are the main chances - I am not convinced of these other stocks being the target , so maybe just maybe this time it is beach!! I guess what i am saying is due to a few takeovers and mergers, the mid rank of oil and gas stocks is a bit thin on the ground; and someone wanting scale, cashflow, and reserves would then have to look at beach!!
