In Victoria public schools 'see' about 93% of funds avaialbe to their school - that's about $7500 per student & nothing like the global figure quoted for ISH.
Amounts provided to 'private schools' vary according to their socioeconomic mix. Nor do their figures take account of special grants & the costs of maintaining the bureaucracy that support all systems.
Overall its correct though that collectively governments provide more funds to public schools. That is their responsibility; funding 'private schools' is not & it must be high time that practice was properly challenged in the High Court.
Government is almost the entire source of funding for public schools whereas 'private schools' often own valuable real estate, have cash in the bank & can source significant income from other sources & especially parents.
As another poster commented; such gross underfunding of the public school system has prompted many parents to shift remove their kids to 'private schools'.
Australia's melting pot is no more & we have governments of all persuasions & collectively to thank for it!
Just imagine how different it would be if all pollies were required to send their kids to public schools!
