My understanding which has come from what others have written on hotcopper, is that a bot is often used by large institutional investors to accumalate or get rid of stock without having too much impact on price. They buy or sell very small parcels over a long period of time. If they bought or sold say 50mil in one or two transactions it would have a dramatic effect on the share price. Someone or some institution has also been stacking the sell side with numerous 21,000 parcels that have been way off the current trading range.
