It is interesting that South Africa (which does have nuclear power) and Namibia, being so endowed with uranium resources, has investigated the potential of harnessing nuclear energy for domestic consumption, however, further enquires indicated that the country did not have the human capacity to manage such a power plant.

India does not have the capital, the intellectual capital or the political will to commence nucler power on a massive scale. Coal is closer and cheaper - hence the reason why the Indian Federal Government has forecast that coal demand will triple to more than 2Bnt pa by 2030 (equivalent to approximately 66% of China?s current consumption). Indian companies have been on the cquisition trail for thermal coal producers in Indonesia, Australia, South Africa and the US. Indian coal imports are
forecast to grow to 200Mtpa by 2016, up from a forecast 80Mt of thermal imports in 2011, which implies an annualised compound growth rate in-excess of 20% pa. Heck, they are building a port capable on the East Coast of importing 200Mt of thermal coal pa - just for power generation.

    Just saying...
