If we're waiting for the U.S. to show 'Leadership' on this/these reforms, we're in big strife.
They seem to be only interested in preserving their self perceived and self appointed role as 'rulers of everything' on the planet. Their mania for status quo is getting more ferocious and dirtier by the week, particularly as they see their position fading into the Chinese sunrise.
Examples of the battle being raised & the unbelievable self centredness of the modern U.S. of A....
1) The up-coming movie that was mentioned on this forum a week or so ago. Red Necks blaming China for everything wrong with the U.S. economy & accusing China of 'Massive Military build up. Basicly saying 'hey, we better stomp these Chinese turkeys out before they invade us'.
2) I get the impression that the Yanks are quite happy with the Euro mess coz in the eyes of the masses, it blurs the fact that lots of it can all be well & truly sheeted home to American Banks, Ratings Agencies, weak laws, corruption, governments ( & their allies, including our dopey lot for years) etc... Just look at what they're trying to do to Assuange(?) because he had access to lots of inside dirt & was blowing the whistle on the plans and methods. (Of course Julia jumped in to sink the boots as well. You know someone must be on the right track when that dope (J.G.) goes against them.)
3) China produces a superstar swimmer. U.S. Swim Coach immediately accuses her as a drug cheat. (Yes, they have got 'form' on this one but would he have been so publicly strong & so immediate with the same accusation against an Australian, Frenchman, German, Israeli....etc .)
4) John McEnroe recently claimed Serena Williams to be the Best Female Swimmer of ALL TIME!! Her record shows she's won 14 Grand slams which is clearly pretty flash. However, Margaret Court/Smith won 28 of them. Navratilova & Graf are also well ahead of her. At least lots of Americans have probably heard of Navrat & Graf. You'd probably struggle to find 5% that have ever heard of Margaret Court/Smith.
5) The 'World Series' in Baseball. Say no more.
6) The singer, Harry Connick Jnr, who bagged the 'Blackface' act on the 'Red Faces' segment on Hey Hey it's Saturday. Laughable that he should appoint himself as spokesman on such things in Oz. This guy comes from the U.S.!!!! who has no prouder record (probably a lot worse) than our treatment of Aboriginal people. Thanks Harry, like we need your wisdom... 7) It's even humorous (sad?) that the acronym for United states is 'us' coz these days, maybe for the last 70 years, they seem to think no-one else exists outside of 'us' and just as importantly no-one else apart from 'us' matters.
That will do for now but I'd be interested in other examples, preferably of a business or economic flavour, if anyone can be bothered.
Here's hoping that the CIA or whoever don't monitor HC. (Maybe Assuange has got a few spare rooms in Venezuela
Suffice to say that the U.S. has been a great country & done some great things in it's history. They just need to get over their current view of themselves.
(Note to a certain Oz city with a bridge, a harbour & an opera house....’you too can be like the U.S. when you grow up')
