Abbott will have to break major promises & thereby wear the 'great big lies' tag he has so effectively attached to Julia Gillard.
Nor will it make any real difference to carbon emissions. It'll just be a handout to companies the Coalition wants to give money to.
Therein lies one of Tony Abbott's dilemmas, if he becomes PM as seems highly likely, scrapping the CT/ETS will cost government a lot of revenue & involve some really messy unwinding that will make pink batts issues look like a well-organised picnic.
