"I just see it as another attempt to take pleasure out of eating."

Too true. I'd wonder if anyone has catalogued all the health scares over the years,ie. eggs are bad for you, then good for you then bad for you then good for you again etc. There must be a very large number of them given one or two pop up every week. Most of these scares just drift off, never to be heard of again, but the residual effect must be quite large, leaving people confused and helpless and obsessed with "health". Perhaps the real agenda is simply grant seeking by those involved, a bit of PR wouldn't go astray in making a case for more money. Commercial interests can jump on later if the story has legs.

I wouldn't mind betting that the real secrets to health (if such exist) would be along the lines of natural food, adequate hydration, regular exercise ie walking(not running marathons), sunshine on skin for vitamin D,moderation but not abstinence in alcohol, good sleep, happy family, good friends and good times, sense of worth and respect etc. The big problem with that is it doesn't require an army of scientists and it's hard to make money out of.

    cheers
