If we didnt have a westminster parliamentary system based on seats and representatives and just had a one federal vote which gave power to an absolute majority of the popular vote, then indeed it would matter who got 50.01%.
As we dont, and this dogs breakfast of a parliament depends on independents and idealogues like the greens and policy comes from "dealmaking" ie bribes and porkbarrelling as a result. So it is irrelevant that over 50% of australia voted for it.
If labor had an absolute governig majority in its own right i wouldnt like it as i wouldnt be one of its chosen recipients for largess but i would accept it.
The current situation is unworkable and will go down as the worst federal parliament in a generation.
Bring on the election.
