Hanging around Cape Town i have plenty time on my hands. The streets are filled with refugees from DRC, Zimbabwe, Malawi and several others. The Zimbabweans in particular speak exc english and along with a cheerful disposition are easy to chat with. Being interested in politics i often ask their views regarding circumstances in their home country. The Chinese are in Zim in a big way. Even shops and road signs are using Mandarin. They have told me numerous cases of workplace abuse... but this example typifies their attitude. The Mandarin slang term used by Chinese 'managers' to refer to their black employees translates as 'slave!!' Shocking isn't it.
