What you stated below struck a cord.

It raises a general complaint with Australian society. So many in our society are willing to complain about the selling of Australian assests overseas and unlike ourselves and other posters on HC, are unwilling to invest in Australian companies that have the potential to develop them.

I would suggest that most of us have learnt to invest in companies like CTP by trial and error, which IMHO a most unsatisfactory manner if we want our society to maintain ownership of our assets or take control of other countries mineral assests.

I believe Australian Governments should be teaching australians about directly investing in Australian companies so they can become financially independent. It should IMHO start at schools so children aspire to owning a share portfolio rather than a Toyota 4WD.

Along with education may be a under 30's super type scheme where children from the age of 15 could invest say $500/pa in a fund and trade that tax free until maturity at the age they need money for a deposit on a home.

We also need better education for older people so they are not scared of directly investing in companies.

Until investing directly in Australian companies becomes common place we will keep selling the farm. People will beome more comfortable with this type of investment when they become knowledgable of the benefits.

Anyway I'll get off my hobby horse but what do others think?
