Brokers have had buy calls on LYC for ages, and the stock continues to fall. Don't mind Fosters, what does that say about the credibility of those brokers who have said to 'buy' all the way down? Investors often get really wound up about sell recommendations and will do anything to reject the synopsis of the recommendation. This thread really only serves to prove my belief on that matter.
The fact remains that some 'sell' recommendations have saved investors from losing their hard earned over recent history. Classic example: Sino Forest is a now redundant entity which traded at $20+ when Muddy Waters commenced coverage on the company and flagged some serious issues. If investors had've acted on the recommendation, they could have sold at $20 and gotten away from a stock that crashed to $5 within weeks, and then got suspended. One year on it has not returned to trading.
Not all sell recommendations are about manipulation. Some are legitimate and will sometimes save you serious money.
I've seen a few suggesting that it is best to do the opposite of what a broker/analyst suggests. I'm willing to bet that no-one was saying to sell when those brokers gave buy signals all those months ago? Investors only like to take a contrarian view when it suits them, it seems, and such a strategy is fraught with danger.
At the end of the day if you are truly comfortable with your investment then it should not concern you or offend you what other people have to say, should it?
