“The estimated number of people who have overstayed their visas and are in Australia at any one time was about 53 900 as at 30 June 2010. The number of overstayers equates to about 0.02 per cent of Australia's population. These people are unlawful non-citizens” That’s 7 times the number of asylum seekers, according to the pretty graph. Which makes refugees seeking asylum just 0.002345% of the Australian population, at any given time.
The Englishman, working cash in hand at the local pub, who pays no tax, who overstayed his holiday visa, but who liked the weather and decided to stay, hoping for a better life, makes up the majority of people who live here illegally. He is the one you should be frightened about. But he’s white, so don’t be too concerned.
On the point of fear. How many Islamic, Muslim terrorist attacks have there been on Australian soil in all our history? Answer, none. So let’s broaden the horizon and have a better look around. The Sydney Hilton was bombed in 1978, which was a Russian Catholic. Russel st, Melbourne, white Anglo Christian. Martin Bryant, Australian sociopath. Julian Knight, same. The list can go on, but you won’t be happy with the number of white Christians I name.
Your frightened? Me too. But the Muslim extremists get the same treatment from me as the Christian ones.
Immigration and asylum are two very different things. People should be able to find asylum in a country that has never been invaded meaningfully, who is marginal, usually compassionate, has water, food, economic hope and genuine opportunity for anyone who wants to make a go of it. But the Pom in the pub, he can go home.
