Consensus forward P/E is available for me, on my computer screen for 2 financial years going forward.
Such forward estimates are adjusted periodically by the source and the institutional investors usually act upon them by buying or selling depending on direction of adjustments.
In BHP's case, forward estimates started to be adjusted upwards (on an international scale because BHP is the largest mining company in the world) during the past 24 hours and the buying is gaining momentum.
BHP is listed on LSE and NYSE and the closing prices over there tonight, will set the tone for Monday on the ASX. I am expecting a movement upwards. Price is up 1.58% on LSE at the moment.
