russia to send warships to iraq, page-6

The presence of the Russian fleet is routine. It is not uncommon for Russian naval vessels to shadow US vessels even though technically the cold war is over.

It is knwon that each time the US navy has been in action in any art of the world they have had 'observers' or 'shadows' to monitor and to record their battle formations, their technical capabilities, intercept electronic signals and frequencies at which their radars, countermeasures and the like operate. Their orde of battle is another area of specific importance to them.

Russia's presence could also be a show of force to interlopers. The US have been having a bad time in Afghanistan and have resorted to the Viet Nam type of reporting/ "10 enemy killed, 1 marine slightly injured".

A closer and more accurate reading coul come from the Asia Times correspondent who comiled reports which later the US admitted to by default. A Paksitani soldier had killed a US marine who crossed into Wanna an area under Paki control.

The fire fight that followed saw another 8 marines killed. Again by Pakis. The US is facing a rebellion as is Britain over the Iraqi dilemma. There are no reasl reasons to go in. But how can they now pull out?? Thats the question.

The Russians have interests hich are inextricably tied to US interests. But the Chinese have spent over US$1 billion in developing new Iraqi fields as well as ONGC the Indian company who spent close to that amount. Both sides are known to be supporting elements of the Afghan resistance in some material ways.

The US have a dilemma on their hands. Go in and they are f...ed. Pull out and their are doomed. No one wants a Shi Ite country as large as Irak next to Iran. Israel will undoubetedly disappear.

    Cheers
