The nickel refinery is at risk, but that's Clive Palmer: Who cares? The city and the workers care. The zinc refinery is owned by the Koreans who have never done the planned second stage. They say nothing but they are BIG power users. If and when they decide they have had enough, they will simply announce the closing date and vacate.
These JOBS matter far more than a few dollars on our private power bills. Do a thousand unionists who say "No probs" cancel out another one getting sacked? At the ballot box, Yes! but voters are selfish.
