that's a stupid comment from an amateur investor like yourself.

instos only buy if they are compelled to for index weighting. then thereafter, the amount they buy is based on, as you say, value/fundamentals, whether they assisted in the IPO, are asked to research the company, whether they are good mates with the directors, etc.
