Agree with your logic. However, I just don't see that all this price pressure was from shorters alone. I think there is a party (or perhaps more than one) that would like to keep the SP down for other reasons. It just so happens that the goals of the shorters and the "predators" are aligned in the short term.
There will come a day when they will have diverging goals. Let's hope that day is soon.
Good to see the SP is trying to kick back.
