difference between deia and eia, page-6

I am well aware of the change in requirements of DEIA (well after Lynas did it's PEIA as required at the time).
Thus, I am well aware of the legal stance of Lynas not being required to do a DEIA.

My main concern was, just how different is a DEIA vs an (P)EIA. ie. Just what are the AntiLynas groups expecting the DEIA to deliver over and above the (P)EIA ?

To be honest I strongly doubted that simply adding the chance for people to view the document was all that changed it... the very nature of the word "Detailed" implies a higher level of assessment.

Having said that, I am struggling to find proof that there is, indeed, a major difference.

The following (rant) seems to imply that the difference is not that great, indeed, the author used the findings of the PSC report to throw in a Health Impact Assesment and various other things which are over and above the DEIA requirements. ...

I would appreciate others comments, but it certainly seems that the difference between the two is, indeed, minimal. (Are there any AntiLynas HC posters who would like to explain the differences ? Genuine Question)...
