I just believe someone should debunk some of the ridiculous conspiracies and statements made on the Gold forum and spread as fact. Even “Nutters” like Alex Jones are put up as proof of the Gold conspiracy. Crikey poor old Bill Gates has been drafted to be part of the part of the Gold suppression conspiracy.

I think country writer is the best balanced and most informed contributer to the Gold discussion. I think we even agree that the Gold price is currently determined by QE and has been for some time. I just don’t think Bernanke can undertake any QE prior to the election. If Gold gets bid up on the expectation of QE and he fails to deliver then Gold retraces. Look what happened on Feb 29th this year when he said no more QE Gold fell $100 in a single session and ended up falling $250.

As far as the USD being toast if we had a major world calamity (such as war with Iran, breakup of Europe, etc) then everyone would rush to the USD just like they did in 2008 even though the US was the centre of the GFC. The safety of the USD is still supreme even though they have borrowed $5T since 2008. However if they don’t mend their ways in the next administration then they may hit big trouble and Gold might well shine and become the safe haven as who would trust alternatives like the Euro (could fall apart), Yen(talk about debt) or Yuan (would you trust the communists).

ASX Gold stocks fell heavily today down 4.3% To me this means investors are very concerned about the Gold price and Bernanke announcing QE this weekend. I dont think anyone knows what the ECB will do as they are still squabbling amongst themselves. In fact I can't see how the Euro will survive. The Euro is forcing countries with different languages, cultures, work ethics, laws (eg retirement ages, entitlements, etc) together. It seems the dream of the united Europe is turning into a nightmare.
