I think what has become clear is that the 'debt' Gillard owes to the union movement, in particular the AWU, is such that she will never move against them ... giving them the license to run amok. The Australian people are now seeing who really runs the nation and it isn't pretty.
I'm not sure Abbott has the drive and comittment to flush the nation clean of this cancer.
