As I see it, Bluegen would save about 16 cents a kilowatt for every kilowatt you consume in the household up to 1.5kw per hour. Over that you would pay 24 cents.
Any excess would be pumped into the grid. That excess would cost you 8 cents to produce and you would get 8 cents for it. So the benefit from the FiT over today is that, today you pay 8 cents and get nothing for it.
So Bluegen really suits someone with high energy consumption who won't be pumping much back into the grid. Solar suits someone who uses very little of what they produce. For example someone on the 60 cent FiT loses 60 cents for every kilowatt they don't pump into the grid. That would be households that have no one home during the day over summer. In the old parlance - DINKs.
It isn't a game changer for CFU, but it certainly is an improvement. The real value in Bluegen would be small businesses and "owners corporations".
