Sorry to baffle you!,its 8c better than nothing, no it isn't a gamechanger as their release pointed out Germany or UK you get more. Its pitiful and the government isn't really encouraging in this matter. The problem here is Aust is beholden to market force theory ie: it will all work out OK if you ignore it for long enough.
CFU/Bluegen uptake are critically dependent on being seen as being Clean Energy/Green Biogas etc. The applauding of the announcement by CFU doesn't play at all well with the rest of the renewable energy sector screaming about being cut back to 8 cents. However 8 cents is what apparently has been agreed by all the Liberal State governments.
FiT = you get 8c per kWh for the energy you produce in Victoria regardless of your use... you still pay 24c for all the power you use... there is NO subtraction no 16 cent saving its an illusion.

The reason is that the Retail Monopolies Origin/Tru etc juggle what they pay which is 5c or so, making 20 cents less their costs per kWH from you. From Commercial users they will make less check your tarriffs.( Also the big secret never revealed by Labor/Liberal governments is the cost of power to Alcoa's Portland Smelter, which by the way uses 30% of Victoria's power , how much do we need that, you reckon the car industry has subsidies!). That is why the situation will not change its too much history, wait 50 years you may find out!

My point is that as part of the juggling process A/C particularly at peak load cost them heaps more than they can charge so how much are they willing to encourage me to buy one? They discount the cost of Solar not to mention A/C why not Bluegen?

PS I reckon the EU, UK and US are the markets and the best hope for CFU.

    Cheers
