Berth 8
"The Port seeks to keep berth utilisation as low as possible by increasing productivity. This involves working with our customers and port service providers to ensure availability of capacity to all and to minimise costs to our customers. As a consequence, both Port of Townsville Limited and our customers had invested and are continuing to invest in better, faster and more efficient infrastructure e.g. Xstrata’s new ship loader to be installed on Berth 8 (currently being upgraded at a cost to the Port of about $50 million) will be about three times the speed of the one it replaces.
