Question is how much or how thick r the Plover sands & where is the gas-water contact (GWC) coming in & whats the net:gross sand ratio ? Thtas what the JV want to know.
COP were shooting 3D seis here, whilst drilling P2 (Dec 2009 ASX releases), so this shouldn't have come as a surprise.
At B1, they should b tripping out now, to run the core barrel.
Coring is the easy bit (6m per barrel). Trip time (ie pulling the drill pipes in & out) is the slow part. There is no faster solution, so will just have to wait for the nxt couple of updates. This will answer a lot of questions abt the reservoir quality though (pressure, porosity & gas presence).
At P#1 they had 228m of the 3 sandy units frm a 317m column (Plover was from 4795 to 5112m). This doesnot include another 100m that they could have tapped, had they drilled at the right crestal spot of the structure. Besides, they didnt encounter the GWC.
At P#2, they cored 12m of the Montara (4721-4741m) & 60m of Plvr-B sand (frm 5061-5123m) which they tried to test, but had blockage issues (skin effect aka ear-wax factor). So a lot of questions can be answered at B#1.
No storms on the horizon is what they need. Their office contact (IR dude) reckons 3 weeks of coring & drilling to TD, tightarse wont tell the present depth but said TD is apprx 5400m(ish) & so far its met their expectations. Not sure if this has anything to do with the other rig (Jack Bates) 24kms frm B#1 at Crown-1.
