Why does this matter so much to so many people; I can't se how this makes any difference to anybody's life unless you are actually Gay yourself.

Far healthier?? How and why? If 2 men can be married and we assume that they are monogamous (as much as a hetro couple would be, or more so) then that has to be a good thing for the community at large for many reasons. If there is a breakdown of the marriage, we should also assume that no children are involved so thats 1 up against hetrrosexual marriages aswell.
AIDS has proven that a stable union between 2 people is healthier no matter what they are, Gay or straight.
Unless your mind has been perverted by religion, I don't see what peoples hang up about this is. very strange
