If any player at test match level can't handle a few bumpers then they shouldn't be playing. I think it is great that there is a contest at last (but would have perferred Australia to win).
Regarding the umpiring decisions, you win some and lose some. Personally I would rather all decisions be made by the umpires instead of deferring to a video umpire. Leave the human element in it and insist on gentlemanly honesty of the players regarding appeals and walking.
