I'm sure many others can see a clear issue here: ERJ should not have got themselves into a situation where a recalcitrant stakeholder in this installation is now able to delay the installation through non-performance.

It should be clearly written into the contract that delays caused by the customer will result in charges of damages.

As far as the 100m of heat radiator that we have build ...if ERJ says that heat loss is not significant because of the high speed of the fluid ...well OK that has some merit. BUT surely they are not saying that insulation would NOT improve efficiency and reduce heat loss.

We are talking a 100m of large pipe that will have an exterior temperature almost the same as the coolant being used as our energy source. That 100m of hot pipe will be radiating heat 24/7 during cold winter nights or the occasional storm when it will become one gigantic 100m rain water heater. Sure it may not be as significant in the middle of a hot summers day.

My guess is that this is company saving face when confronted with a simple solution to an obvious solution providing savings in efficiency.

Don't be so stubborn and proud and INSULATE the thing. Surely there is spray foam polyurethane insulation available that would make short work of this job.

My plumber used insulation on our house hot water system (in Brisbane!) ...my car has insulation around the air conditioning piping. Is there some magic ERJ thermodynamic principle that I am missing?

Considering the coefficient of thermal conductivity of steel ...why will the entire pipe supports not also heat up and become one gigantic radiator. The pipe saddles/supports should also be insulated IMHO.

Come on everyone ...just because we sit in an office and look at a computer screen doesn't mean that we should be devoid of real-world logic.

ERJ I issue you a challenge ...please put this to rest and show shareholders the thermodynamic calculations that demonstrate that heat loss will be insignificant.

If these calculations prove to be valid I will provide a written public apology. In the mean time I'm not convinced.

For those who would criticise this critique, please consider that if my concerns prove to be correct ...I will have provided a solution leading to improved efficiency and enhanced long-term company revenue.

If I am wrong, ERJ have lost nothing but gained a potential shareholder communication and confidence building opportunity.

Please also ream-out the power-station manager or whoever is responsible for these delays and let him know that a few of us shareholders would like to have a friendly beer and a chat with him to help him improve his attitude adjustment capabilities.

    Cheers,

    SJB
