This is just my second POST on HotCopper, so hope I do it OK. I am quite new to the sharemarket, and as I have not lost much money, probably have a great deal to learn.

In relation to the quote “Every afternoon, what appears to be very strong support gets taken out and early gains are wiped away.”

Let me see if I understand what is being said. That an entity with 40M shares to play with, out of a total of 769.3M shares can continuously manipulate the market, over a long (multiple months) timeframe, using programmed BOTs.

If this is true, then it should, in theory, be possible to use this knowledge to ‘take some back’ from the scheme in question. For example, if the support is strong in the morning, pushing up the price until some point in the afternoon, when support is withdrawn, then why not take advantage of this and BUY each Morning, and SELL the same holding each day, at one price increment up.

For example, if one had a holding of 100K shares, one could place a SELL order for 100K shares in the morning at, say 0.19 ($18970), and at the same time, place a 100K BUY order at 0.185 ($18,530). If the BOTs behave the same, day after day, one can clean up $440 each day for a couple of minutes work (with the significant risk of $18530). Obviously, the starting amount might gradually shift over time. If this actually worked, then more would do it, and the BOTs would be either defeated, or might as well just deposit money directly into our accounts. Somehow, I don’t think it would be so easy to make money though.

The only problem with this, is that this would be doing just what the ‘BOT’ is doing, sort of making us into a pseudo-bot. Buying in the morning, driving up the price, and selling in the afternoon, thus applying downward pressure on the price.

Any thoughts on attempting such an experiment or test?

Has anyone already tried such an experiment with real money?
