On the Porgera Mine in comparison to the footprint of Mt Kare.
Porgera was 'discovered' back in the late 1930's.
Back then Porgera was just a very small alluvial field, not much really compared with other alluvia’s like the Wau Field in Morobe (where Errol Flynn was then doing his thing).
By comparison, Mt Kare was a massive + 1,000,000 oz nugget field.
Mt Kare is also at a higher altitude to Porgera but close relative to distance.
In all likelihood the hydrothermal activity producing gold mineralization at Mt Kare was significantly more vigorous than at Porgera.
On another note re the “discovery” of visible gold 1000 meters to the south of the current resource, that is very unlikely to be a mere “one hit wonder”.

The former explorer of Mt Kare (Buffalo Gold) completed a 21.7 -line -kilometers, induced polarization (IP) survey over the southern extension of the Mt. Kare deposit (See Buffalo Press Release March 3, 2008).

The survey defined a strong 400m by 300m chargeability anomaly, extending southward from Mt. Kare.

For those who don’t understand this technical element in exploration in effect an electrical current is run through the ground to identify changes in chemical composition of the sub stratum.

It’s the same process that Sirius Resources (SIR) used to discover their new (huge) copper and nickel find in WA a few weeks ago.

Buffalo discovered an anomaly about 300x400 meters in size.

It was interpreted as being sulphide mineralization and defined an untested portion of Mt. Kare gold bearing epithermal system.

This ground, on conservative numbers modeled @ 3.5 g/ton and a very modest intercept of 70 meters of mineralization has the notional (but purely speculative and untested) “potential’ to yield at the least, another million oz to the current resource.

Given the style and setting of mineralization at Kare, this anomaly might indicate a potential intercept of 100-170 meters of mineralization which theoretically suggests a FURTHER potential resources of up to 2-2,500,000oz.

WHAT IS STATE ABOVE IS PURLY A HYPOTHETICAL, IT SHOULD NOT IN ANY WAY BE ASSUMED TO REPRESENT THE REALITY AND POTENTIAL OF WHAT MAY LAY WITHIN THE SUPHIDE ZONE SOUTH OF KARE AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED ON IN ANY WAY TO MAKE ANY INVESTMENT DICISION IN IDC AT THIS TIME.
