Point taken, but I feel that I must point out that the conduct of the trials is entirely within the control of the researchers who are committed to conducting the trials within hospital ethical standards for patient selection etc.

There isn't much for CZD to do other than stand back. In this case, I am certain that the company has been instrumental in urging changes in the trial protocol to allow a broader patient base.

I have questioned the company in some detail about what went wrong with the recruitment for the VAC trial, and I have been convinced that it was due to unforeseen circumstances outside the company's control.

I don't know, but I would imagine similar issues have been the cause of the extremely disappointing start to the BTM trial.
