Sep 14, 2012 - Uranium spot market participants gathered this week in London for WNA’s 37th Annual Symposium. Only four transactions are reported in the spot uranium market. The outlook for sellers going into the week had been one of optimism that buyers would return to the market seeking to secure material for their uncommitted needs in 2013 and beyond. However, the news that Japan would adopt an energy policy that takes into account the desire of its citizens to phase out nuclear power caused buyers to step back from the market to assess the potential impact. Separately, a few sellers that had been counting on an uptick in demand found themselves in a position of lowering offer prices in order to conclude transactions this week. As a result, TradeTech’s Weekly U3O8 Spot Price Indicator fell $0.60 to $47.40 per pound U3O8.
