Ronsterm can't help but highlight your blatant hyprocracy!
The basis of your argument is preservation of civil liberties etc. Well part of being free is being free to express your own view. Jessie is making constructive and relevant statements and your accusing him/ her of trolling?? In what universe is that trolling? I think people whom understood the word would agree that word would be more suited to your posts. No one can disagree surveillance is also a preventative measure, serial killers have been caught via surveillance.
Like it or lump it video surveillance is a powerful crime fighting/preventative tool. I'm buying a new car next year, guess what? I'm fitting it out with cameras, front and back. Mainly for insurance purposes but if it catches a driver intentionally being dangerous I'd have no problem sending it to the coppers.
Video surveillance is one thing, but cross transfer of personal data/ details and access to it for the government is totally unacceptable. If governments suspect you of criminal activity then the same process(IMO a much tougher process) of getting a search warrant to search your home should be applied.
I think the biggest hurdle at this stage is transparency of what exactly is getting used to keep tabs on you.
