I distinctly thought that I read that Statoil was looking for a PARTNER for the shale gas interests in Australia. I can't see any suggestion of TAKEOVER in those words.
Beach has far too much to offer to go in a takeover and if Halifax-1 delivers a duplicate of 218, then you would be talking far bigger numbers than are being chucked around by some.
My BET is still on a juicy J/V with big dollars for a share in 218 and 855 and no ongoing development costs!!
Be crazy to even contemplate anything less than that. Beach has the whip handle and I can't see Reg and the bulk of individual shareholders throwing all of this away for less than $3 billion. And that won't happen. Get used to another partner.
