If the ALP and the unions hang him out to dry you would imagine he would say just about anything to save himself and family.
Given what is potentially at stake (Labor's tenuous grip on power) I can't see this happening. He will likely be given some assurance by the ALP that if he takes a slap on the wrist to calm the issue then he will will be somehow looked after.
Thomson will likely have no case to answer for as the spending of union monies appears to be extremely vague.
Just a case of everyone knowing things are amiss but, legally, there is no way of proving it.
No doubt some superficial issue will be pounced upon by the ALP to distract the media away from the situation.
