The guy's so strung out he couldn't remember what happened last week let alone 17 years ago. I like the part about 2 minutes in where Smith starts reassuring him that it's all OK. "It's OK Bob it's just you and me talking about this like we have before." Then at 2:17 Smith grabs a hanky from his pocket and drops it. Was he going to wipe the snot off his nose? Farcical.
