At present fully electric cars are a non goer but hybrids, particuluarly the
Toyota Prius, seem to be doing ok.
I spoke yesterday to a Nissan Leaf salesman and he said sales were virtually non-existant because of buyer skepticism. He said the chief fears were excessive depreciation and running out of battery on the highway.
If the EV manufacturers want to counter buyer skepticism they have to
(a) provide a guaranteed buy back price after a few years
(b) provide free roadside assist 24/7.
Since the Prius has gained acceptance in the taxi business, sales seem to be
advancing but most dedicated EVs seem to be sporty and not suitable for
either taxi or government fleets.
Cheers
