Oh no - the dreaded govnut disease is spreading in west Africa. Ghana and the Ivory Coast have recently put out their hands for more and now it looks like Burkina Faso can not help itself. Mali I noticed is already a pretty high taxing country (20% free carry, 30% income tax plus a royalty on production. I wonder what the current deal is in Niger and Mauritania and what will change. However, some of them have a tax-free period of several years.
Senegal is still OK as far as I know, but they do not have a lot of prospective tenements prospective for gold and very few operating mines so they will try to attract investment with a low mining tax, I suppose.
