Our daughter-in-law fled Iran with her mother and siblings and lived in Australia for almost a decade before her father was able to leave to join his family.
Our grand-daughter therefore knows nuch more than an 11 year old should have to - including about the atrocities such as that inflicted on Malala Yousafzai.
She is acutely aware of the oppressive / tyrannical treatment of women and acutely aware of behaviour that denies females the same rights as males.
She was indeed upset that females in Australia would be burdened with sexist phrases such as 'handbag hit squad' - she asked me; "Why do those people who say such things hate those women so much?".
What would you have said to a very intelligent and highly sensitive 11 year old girl?
