food for thought

I've been following Biota for many years now, and been unable to post due to circumstance.

The company is a biotech. They burn money. Depending on management they will continue to burn money. Research isn't an investment. J&J wasn't an investment in 1890. It's a risk. They may work, they may not.

You can't blame management. Blame is a joke. Either the company has it, or doesn't.

Biota has it. The current management is trying to deal with a cash burning situation/opportunity. I think it's a 50/50 going to the states. It may work out as some bio guys look at the company, but eventually it's about Biota. Look at numbers for companies in the states with Biota's stats. It's important.

Biota has the potential to become a great research company. It's not an easy road, and there is a strong possibility this company will go bankrupt if they don't merge.

Every company in this field has the same potential. Biota may be a leader in their field, but leaders are raising their hand every day. (One argument by the way for continued investment in education and research in Australia).

Biota is ahead of the curve. The management's decision to merge is probably complicated, but does not hinge on enrichment. While I do not know (as the board says) PC, I'm pretty sure he didn't have negative thoughts when he made any decision. Were he and a few others a bit greedy? Yes.....

If everyone on this board waits for elderly and young when standing at a buffet, or doesn't complain when the line is too long, or always gives back a freebie when the cashier hands you an extra 1 dollar by mistake then you have the right to say that.

    Fiduciary duty:
    Has anyone violated that?
At 300-900 an hour someone will tell you.

Right now the company needs its researchers and scientists to move forward with what may be a globally changing product. The science will not change, but the company may, via mergers or bankruptcy. Investors may or may not generate or lose outsize returns, but the science will remain. I personally believe if the Phases go well Biota will be taken over. They cannot/or unable to manufacture the product for market. Simple contract manufacturing deals are not an example of ability.

I hope and would wish Biota to succeed, but I know this is in no way a guarantee. The path through idea, research, trial, concept, product, manufacture, distribution and market is not simple.

Cut them some slack unless you want to buy enough of the company to sway the board.
