wet/dry gas???, page-7

Good point. I have been trying to make some sense of the company's comments.

"During drilling operations, the mudlogs detected an increase in background gas from a depth of approximately 2,850m which has been observed through to the current depth of approximately 3,200m. Hydrocarbon readings over this interval have ranged from C1 to C3 (Methane, Ethane and Propane). The presence of gas has also been confirmed by initial gas desorption measurements from the core at surface, however the significance of these hydrocarbon indications cannot be determined until more detailed core analysis has been undertaken both at surface and in the labs over the coming months"

Point - potential for Goldwyer to be present from oil window through to dry gas window and Nicolay-1 is specifically targetting the wet gas window - see Euroz conference papers.

How do we know what we have from the limited info released? From the preliminary analysis of the mud logs NSE was able to acertain the presence of C1 to C3. Dry gas will be almost all C1 and perhaps traces of C2 C3 etc.
Wet gas will have much higher % of the constituents C2 C3 C4 C5. How much/how high? Google tells us that with wet gas C1/C2, C1/C3, C2/C4 etc need to be between 20 and 50. We won't know without core analysis/chromotography.

BUT - at this very early juncture - I am glad to see NSE reporting the presence of C2 and C3 - these are must haves if we are to have wet gas.
As for how wet? Prawno - any new ideas?

We are looking for condensate - C2 C3 etc is good.
We are not expecting oil in the mud logs - but could be seeps from the cores.

IMHO - all heading in the right direction.
Good luck with the coring this week. Cheers GB
