I was always bit of "contrariar".I am thinking different way. Why, till I am healthy should live all year in the most expensive country in the world? When close by is many cheaper option, lets say Thailand, average p/a salary 134,000 baht ($ 4,200 ), Fiji even less... I set up part time business over there stay there 3-4 months at the time :) PS: Friend of mine( similar situation) already building house in Thailand $ 180 000 ,two storey ,price is all inclusive with pool, garden, furniture TVs etc. I am going to check after Christmas.
