I agree IPTV conceptually is great, look at netflix.. however it had(has) a number of advantages that QFX just doesn't have..

I suppose it depends on how its implemented, managed and priced but the main problem is timing...

Personally I see piracy as a huge unstoppable force that will under-mine QFX in australia due to 3 things.. firstly..

1.) all shows appear in the US first, usually at a weird time (when we are asleep or at work) so most people can download them and watch them as quick as QFX could ever deliver them.

2.) QFX doesn't have the luxury of 'economics of scale' like Netflix does.. much larger viewership means the costs are lower, which actually means a larger % are willing to pay it.

3.) QFX uses streaming rather than downloading content, thus internet problems = no content where as a download can be viewed while offline..

Its funny because pirates probably enjoy the content most and they are killing the content at the same time..

The TV model will never die out for things like:

Sports, Reality shows and any content that cannot be watched later with the same enjoyment level..

Movie cinemas will always have a specific enjoyment level compared to watching at home..

IPTV seems to be caught in the middle between great concept and poor market timing in australia.. if piracy ever gets under-control though... QFX will be huge!
