    LOL bbloff clearly you do not understand tax law


    What you are referring to is called a capital loss. And guess what...with realestate you also CANNOT write off capital losses from your taxable income.

    Like shares capital losses must be carried forward to future tax years and offset with any capital gains you make.

    Share negative is exactly the same as real estate negative gearing.

    Any non-capital costs (i.e. Interest expense) can be offset against both the investment income and taxpayers wage income.
